"An Ode to Art Supplies" illustration and text for Uppercase Magazine, Issue #40
"Sometimes, the magic of illustration comes about on the sidelines of what I'm intending to do. Often, when I am illustrating with watercolour and gouache, an unexpected blend of shapes and shades appear on my palette. The colours swirl together to create a temporary composition of mixed paint and brushstrokes that could be in itself a small painting. Inspired by this, I try to incorporate this loose spontaneity into the texture of my final illustration, too."
